Week 9 - June 5th, 2026

Hello, Jungle Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

It was a delightful week to learn and grow again in school. We started singing good morning songs , months of the year, seasons song, and weather song. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Our little learners were certainly coping well and having a great time with their friends throughout the week!

In the afternoon, we ended our day by reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

This week, we kickstarted our lesson through lots of engaging and fun activities to review our phonics and sight word knowledge. First, we read our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Time for Soccer" , talked about the pictures and the words in the book and did a related worksheet afterwards such as phonics. Then, we learned about our literacy lessons. These are the activities that we did: Short Vowel Uu with Swat the Bug activity , hut craft and short vowel u word crafts through cutting and pasting pictures, Letter formation through Mat man song, and phonics worksheet. Last, we continued using our different booklets to hone our writing and reading or blending skills throughout this term. This booklet is individualized and self-paced activity wherein, once they finish it, hey move to next colored booklet like a "level-up game" for them to keep them motivated and challenged as well.

Regarding literacy this week, we continued reading our razkids book, taking time to identify short vowels, nouns, and verbs on each page. Following our reading of the book we played some games that further polished our ability to pronounce and read short vowels. We also spent significant time covering numerous digraphs, ranging from th, ee, or, at, et, and more! Our lessons included an abundance of fun activities in which we crafted our own sentences and colored pictures that matched the meaning of the sentence, made a bathtub filled with digraphs written on bubbles, and conducted group discussions to craft spontaneous stories including the digraphs we covered.

Maths

Pre-K

This week, we talked about measurement: Capacity or how much a container can hold water through songs, play-based, exploration and fun activities. We had various activities to hone our numeracy skills as well as our fine motor skills. These are the activities that we did for this week: exploration time using different containers and learning about words: empty, half-full, and full, capacity craft using playdough and beads to show our understanding, and a lot of capacity experimentation time through water play wherein they use different containers to check its capacity by pouring colored liquid! They also learned the word, "potable" as we reminded them not to drink the water they were playing with. The water play aimed to enhance their control, focus , concentration and eye-hand coordination.

For mathematics we continued our study of understanding subtraction. We used new tools to help us visualize how subtraction works like using blocks as fruits and placing them on cards of characters eating them. We also used single unit blocks to visualize subtraction within short stories we read. As we read, we not only tested our literacy comprehension, but polished our addition and subtraction skills by using units of 1 and 10 to solve equations based on what happened in the story (for example, in one of our stories that we read, a Princess helped her 2 sisters, 3 cousins, and mother. We had to answer how many people did the princess help, with the answer being 6). We also continued working with bigger numbers this week within our lessons, with numbers up to 30 for addition equations and 20 for subtraction equations. We made crafts and played games, while also completing assignments in our new tents to provide a fun and engaging environment for our little lions!

Topic Exploration

This week, we kickstarted with our Sports day- Ball games wherein they learned new ball games such as basketball and volleyball. We also used this time to practice for our Sports day as it is just around the corner! We did the following activities: watched a short educational ball videos, My Sports Puppet and decorated our white shirts. For our Music time, we used balls, rods and cups as options for making sounds to the beat and rhythm.
