Week 10 - June 12th, 2026

Hello, Desert Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

During our morning meetings, we sang our Hello Song, Weather Song, and Months of the Year Song. We also discussed our classroom responsibilities, with students taking on special roles such as caretaker, line leader, and lunch helper. The students had lots of fun singing and dancing to "Dynamite" and "Field Day Dance No. 2" as we continued practicing for our upcoming Sports Day. Everyone is becoming more confident with the routines and is excited for the big day!

This week, the students also attended a morning assembly led by Ms. Lis and Ms. Risa, where they learned about this month's character trait, "I am decisive." Through fun activities and discussions, the students practiced making choices and thinking about the importance of making kind and responsible decisions. We began with simple choices, such as choosing between cars or trains, before moving on to everyday classroom situations like deciding to helping to tidy up.

During our afternoon meetings, we read "She Got This" by Laurie Hernandez. The students were encouraged to participate by joining in with repeated phrases and actions throughout the story. We ended each day by singing our Goodbye Song together.

Preschool

Language & Literacy

Preschool

This week in Language & Literacy, we learned the letter Ee and practiced recognizing its sound through a variety of fun, hands-on activities. The students explored words beginning with the /e/ sound while continuing to build their letter recognition, letter formation, and fine motor skills.

Throughout the week, the students used playdough to form the letter Ee and practiced their cutting skills by using child-safe plastic scissors to snip the playdough. They also used pipe cleaners to shape the letter, completed an E themed craft, and traced and erased letters using Q-tips to strengthen letter recognition and formation. The students also enjoyed a fun headband challenge, where they carefully knocked a ball off a cup without knocking the cup over, helping to develop their focus and coordination.

Maths

Preschool

This week in Math, we continued reviewing the numbers 1–10. We began each lesson by singing our 1–10 counting song, helping the students build confidence with number recognition and counting in a fun and engaging way.

Throughout the week, the students created number crafts for the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 using paper strips and pencils to make colorful designs while reinforcing number formation. They also enjoyed our Sun Rays Number Match activity, where they matched numbered popsicle sticks to the correct numbers around a paper sun while counting aloud together.

The students also practiced putting numbers in the correct order using numbered cones. Each student was given a numbered cone and worked together with their classmates to arrange themselves in the correct sequence from 1–10. Once they had completed the challenge, I scrambled the order, and the students had to work together to put the numbers back in the correct order.

A favorite activity this week was the numbered cone challenge. The students loved working together to figure out where they belonged in the number line and were excited each time the numbers were mixed up and they had to reorder themselves again.

Topic Exploration

This week's theme was gymnastics. We learned about different gymnastics events and watched a video introducing the uneven bars. The students enjoyed observing how gymnasts swing, balance, and move across the bars.

To reinforce our learning, the students completed a gymnastics craft featuring a gymnast swinging on the uneven bars.

und the corner, we also used much of our topic exploration time to prepare for the event. The students made colorful pom-poms and tie-dye shirts that they will use during Sports Day. They had lots of fun creating their own unique shirts and were excited to see the finished results.

Throughout the week, we also practiced our dances and and various events. The students have been working very hard and are becoming more confident each day.
