Hello, Jungle Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
It was a splendid week as we started each day singing good morning songs , months of the year, seasons songs, and weather songs. We followed this by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Our little Lions and Tigers have grown more confident with each passing day! In addition, we also had our Morning Assembly and gathered in the Big room to talk about "Being Decisive" through choosing good and healthy choices for our bodies led by our Desert teachers. Last, we also included our performance practice in some days at our morning meeting to rehearse for our Sports day.
In the afternoon, we had our Show and Tells from Red group. Moreover, we ended our day by reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
This week, we kickstarted our lesson through lots of engaging and fun activities to review our phonics and sight word knowledge. First, we read our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Games We Play" , talked about the pictures and the words in the book and did a related worksheet afterwards such as phonics. We had a wonderful discussion as it also gave importance to students not to play with fire at the end of the book. Our Pre-K shared a lot about why they should not play with fire. They said, "It will burn. It is so hot! It is dangerous. It will burn the city. You will be fireman." Then, we reviewed our Short Vowels this week. These are the activities we did: short vowel song and game, crafts and a worksheet, Letter formation through Mat man song, and learned more prepositional words through On, In, Under, By song and our friend spider. Last, we continued using our different booklets to hone our writing and reading or blending skills throughout this term. This booklet is individualized and self-paced activity wherein, once they finish it, hey move to next colored booklet like a "level-up game" for them to keep them motivated and challenged as well.

Regarding literacy this week, we continued reading our razkids book, taking time to identify short vowels, nouns, and verbs on each page. Following our reading of the book we played some games that further polished our ability to pronounce and read short vowels. We also spent significant time covering numerous digraphs, ranging from th, ee, or, at, et, and more! Our lessons included an abundance of fun activities in which we crafted our own sentences and colored pictures that matched the meaning of the sentence, and worked on sharpening our punctuation skills by correctly placing commas, periods,
questions marks, and exclamation marks.
Maths
Pre-K
This week, we talked about measurement: Comparing Sets of Objects, Pictures and Numbers with More, Less, and Equal through Hungry Alligator, songs, play-based, exploration and fun activities. We had various activities to hone our numeracy skills as well as our fine motor skills. These are the activities that we did for this week: Meet Hungry Alligator Who Likes To Eat More Story and Presentation, comparing sets exploration using Legos, paired activity using symbols : <,>,=, and Comparing Sets craft with 3-4 steps instructions such as look at the sign, tear the paper, crumple, and paste it. Since it is an open-ended activity, it allows the students to enhance their decision-making skills as they choose origami colors and numbers to compare on their own from 0-10.

Regarding math, we focused on sharpening our subtraction skills with some fun songs that provided a fun review to some common strategies. We worked with numbers exceeding 20 and completed numerous activities that saw us complete addition and subtraction based equations. We also had fun completing some new crafts in which we made a garden with flowers that had subtraction equations written on them, with answers corresponding to a particular color, and using subtraction equations to make windows on a school bus!
Topic Exploration
This week, we continued our exploration of Sports day- Gymnastics, wherein they learned about gymnastics. We did some common stretches that gymnastics do in order to prepare ourselves for a game in which we had to mimic the movement of Olympic gymnastic performances. We also spent time making crafts, including attaching our faces to aerodynamic poses that referenced gymnastic competitions. Our Jungle Friends had lots of fun learning about how their bodies can fold and bend like a gymnast. Additionally, we also discovered the importance of stretching and caring for our joints and tendons (as it directly correlates to a gymnasts’ training routine).

Here are some more pictures of friends playing together in the classroom, in the Big Room, at the park, and enjoying other topics, events and activities at school. This also includes snippets from our Japanese lesson with our Japanese teacher, Ms. Ai and our Sports Day Rehearsal at Izumi campus.
