Hello, Jungle Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
It was a delightful week to learn and grow again in school. We started singing good morning songs , months of the year, seasons song, and weather song. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Our little learners were certainly coping well and having a great time with their friends throughout the week!
In the afternoon, we ended our day by reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song. Last Monday, it was our first Morning Assembly wherein we met and greeted altogether our other friends from Pond, Safari, and Desert friends. We also learned about being an "Inquirer"- a character trait this month through sorting shapes and asking questions collaboratively which was headed by Pond teachers.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
This week, we kickstarted our lesson through lots of engaging and fun activities to review our phonics and sight word knowledge. First, we read our Raz-Kids book entitled, "Jungle friends" , talked about the pictures and the words in the book and did a related worskheet after. Then, we learned about our literacy lessons. These are the activities that we did: Alphabet Picture Chart, Letter formation through Mat man song, and phonics worksheet. This week, we introduced "sight word time" through singing a chant and doing a sight word worksheet about "the". Last, we began using our different booklets to hone our writing and letter recognition skills throughout this term.
Kinder
Regarding our literacy lessons, Kinder focused on studying consonant blends (nn) and identifying high frequency “ap” words (like nap, snap, map, etc). We continued to enhance our understanding of sight words and reading fluency through group reading, playing games, singing along with educational songs, and making crafts.
Maths
Pre-K
This week, we continued to enhance our on number recognition, rote counting, rational counting and ordering numbers. We had various activities to hone our numeracy skills as well as our fine motor skills. These are the activities that we did for this week: rational counting craft through counting and pasting squares on each number, Throw the Dice Number Dino Game, How Many Letters are In My Name, Number House Craft and Ordering Numbers 1 to 20 for group activities, and our Math booklets.
Kinder
For Week 2, we worked on strengthening our familiarity with numbers past 20 and better understanding less than, greater than, and equal values (using the alligator method). We also worked on developing our fine gross motor skills via a plethora of activities that saw us cut, color, and paste an array of materials in order to complete crafts and assignments that accentuated our studies.
Topic Exploration
Throughout the week we explored the topic of spring, in which we learned about prominent animals, flowers, objects, weather, and holidays associated with the season. We made some crafts, learned new songs to sing along to, and played some games to enrich our studies. To enrich this exhilarating week of learning we made Sakura streamers, spring collages, played a matching game, and spring bingo, which gave us ample opportunity to review all the new spring iconography and words we learned about.
