Week 1 - April 10th, 2026

Hello, Jungle Class families!

Morning & Afternoon Meeting

Welcome back to School, Jungle friends!

We are so delighted to be part of Jungle class as we venture another year full of learning and fun together.

It was such a wonderful week as we began getting to know our friends and teachers in school. We started singing good morning songs , months of the year, seasons song, and weather song. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Our little learners were certainly coping well and having a great time with their friends throughout the week!

In the afternoon, we ended our day through reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song. Next Monday, it will be our firs Morning Assembly and we can meet and greet altogether our other friends from Pond, Safari, and Desert friends.

Language & Literacy

Pre-K

This week, we started our lesson through lots of engaging and fun activities to review our phonics and sight word knowledge. These are the activities that we did: Guess the Beginning Sound using a mystery bag and and letter hunt, alphabet fishing activity, and tracing alphabet worksheet. This week, we slowly introduced "sight word time" through singing a chant and sorting sight words- an and a. Last, we began using our different booklets to hone our writing and letter recognition skills throughout this term. This may also include booklets for drawing and name writing in preparation for Kinder level.

Kinder

This week we read, “Abby and Zott”. This story gave us ample opportunity to get more familiar with the concept of comparison as we discussed similarities and differences amongst our two protagonists of the story, being a little girl named Abby and her best friend, an alien named Zott. We also completed an activity that had us identify words beginning with Z and S, as these vocabulary words frequently appeared in the story. In addition we studied the function of periods, as they act as stops or pauses in sentences. We constructed our own sentences that emphasized when and where to place periods. We also took time to make some crafts that further exposed us to common phonics such as, "oi".

Maths

Pre-K

This week, we recalled our prior knowledge on number recognition, rote counting, rational counting and basic shapes. We had various activities to hone our numeracy skills as well as our fine motor skills. These are the activities that we did for this week: forming number using playdough for tactile and muscle memory, writing numerals game as exit tickets, following instructions number game through identifying the numbers and drawing different shapes, cutting different shapes to form a picture, and a number related worksheet.

Kinder

For mathematics, we continued to review numbers up to 20 alongside covering some strategies to help us solve addition problems. We spent time making crafts to supplement our studies such as a lion craft with a rainbow mane that had addition-based problems pasted on each color of the mane that we had to solve prior to assembling the lion. We also played some games such as an iSpy challenge in which we had to identify numerous jungle animals and use the amount of specific animals as values to solve addition-based problems.

Topic Exploration

For Topic Exploration we spent some time learning about jungle animals, with Lions and Tigers being the core focus of the lessons. We held many discussions following our viewings of educational videos to reinforce our comprehension and build confidence speaking in front of others. We also employed our artistic skills and polished our fine motor skills as our kinder and pre-k friends collaborated to carefully paint giant pictures of Lions and tigers respectively, taking extra care to paint within the lines and properly color coordinate according to their animal. The paintings came out perfect, brimming with color and reflecting our Jungle Friend’s passion. We made mini lion pets out of balloons and pet carriers outfitted with the big cats native to the jungle. We also incorporated some exercise in our lessons as we played games in which we imitated the animals we learnt about. We are so proud of our jungle team as they’ve had no trouble adjusting to their new environment thus far.

Free Play

Here are some more pictures of friends playing together in the classroom, in the Big Room, at the park, and enjoying other topics, events and activities at school.
