Hello, Jungle Class families!
Morning & Afternoon Meeting
It was a delightful week to learn and grow again in school. We started singing good morning songs , months of the year, seasons song, and weather song. It was followed by checking our calendar time, assigning class jobs, doing a movement song and sharing about our whereabouts through our Class Dojo photos. Last Monday, we had our Morning Assembly with Jungle teachers as they presented a "Rainbow Fish Puppet Show" while giving importance to a new character trait called, "Reflective". We had fun learning how to be reflective and decorated rainbow fish using colorful scales. Our little learners were certainly coping well and having a great time with their friends throughout the week!
In the afternoon, we started our Show and Tell for Red group about "Something Useful at Home". Our friends were so knowledgeable and confident presenting their different tools and things they use at home from a cleaning tool, kiddie tool case, and interactive toys to keep them smart and healthy! Last, we ended our day by reading a storybook and singing a goodbye song.
Language & Literacy
Pre-K
This week, we kickstarted our lesson through lots of engaging and fun activities to review our phonics and sight word knowledge. First, we read our Raz-Kids book entitled, "There is a Mouse in the House" , talked about the pictures and the words in the book and did a related worksheet afterwards such as phonics. Then, we learned about our literacy lessons. These are the activities that we did: Jolly Phonics Group 2 through Jolly classroom, interactive games, Alphabet Soup with letter sensorial bag to hone their writing skills and muscle memory, and doing some related worksheets for review and mini assessment . We also learned a new sight word "big "this week through a song and did a sight word worksheet right and our favorite songs: matman, on,in,under , by and vowel songs. Last, we continued using our different booklets to hone our writing and reading or blending skills throughout this term. This booklet is individualized and self-paced activity wherein, once they finish it, hey move to next colored booklet like a "level-up game" for them to keep them motivated and challenged as well.
Kinder
This week, for literacy we spent time learning about insect wings via our assigned Razkids book, "Insect Wings", focussing on adjectives that help describe the vast types of wings present within insects. We also spent ample time on reading assessments via group story time and individual reading practice with short words and stories. We concluded every lesson this week with writing practice, crafting our own sentences and tracing over letters to help us attain neat, legible handwriting. We had fun refining our reading and writing skills with group activities and games!
Maths
Pre-K
This week, we started talking about 3D shapes. These are the activities that we did: we sang 3D shapes song, 3D shape Hunt exploration and match activity, drawing activity, Build a 3D shape using blocks, sticks and clay, and some related worksheets for mini assessment too. It was so amazing how our Pre-K friends showed and applied 3D shapes by looking for things they have even while they were eating! We also did our Math booklets.
Kinder
This week we focused on refining our listening comprehension skills alongside working on our subtraction and addition with simple stories in which our jungle friends wrote and solved equations based on the stories we read out loud during our lesson. We worked with numbers up to 20 for subtraction and used double digit equations for solving addition-based problems. We spent time on our booklets, some crafts, and physical based games to supplement our studies!
Topic Exploration
For this week, we talked , "All About Homes." First, we ventured on the importance of why animals and people need homes for them to live. A lot of answers were shared such as, "because we need to sleep and eat, we need to take a shower, animals will be eaten, because it is dark." Then, we looked inside our homes to expand our vocabulary such as, bedroom, kitchen, living room, and the like. These are the other activities that we did: house drawing activity, STEM Build a House activity- an open-ended activity using cardboard rolls, paper, tissue paper roll, paper, tape and scissors, a house craft paired activity. We also used common musical instruments for our Music time as we sang and listened to our house song. Our students were able to explore, work and learn together in different groups. This helped them to enhance their socialization and work as a team. Next week, let us learn and celebrate as we talk about Japan!
