Dear Families and Friends,

We've just completed a wonderful first week of school with our new friends! Hooray!

This week, our main focus has been on establishing essential classroom routines and encouraging a welcoming environment. We know that the transition to school from being at home with family is very difficult especially for infants. So we dedicated this week on providing a sense of comfort and building trust, both with their friends and teachers.

On Monday, we did first-day-of-school photographs to remember this special day for them. Friends were introduced to daily classroom routines, and met their new friends and teachers. The we had a hide-and-seek scarf game with stuffed toys of animals that can be found in the pond like turtles, frogs, ducks, and more.

On Tuesday, we focused on promoting positive peer interaction through guided play. We incorporated singing fun and easy songs, which supports language development and auditory skills. After, we pretended like frogs leaping over Lily pads but we used cushions and pillows to support balance and movement. It was so fun!

On Wednesday, we had a sensory water play where we made our small world pond with different water animals. Then we splashed, poured and enjoyed touching the wet and cold water.

On Thursday, we did a tactile hand-painting activity. We learned about the color yellow and painted mother duck and baby ducks with our tiny hands and fingers.

Finally, on Friday, we had fun playing with blocks and other toys, encouraging imaginative thinking and social interaction. We also did a dramatic play where we showed how to share toys and play with friends nicely.

It has been wonderful to observe friends’ increasing comfort and engagement throughout the week. Thank you for your help and support! We look forward to another beautiful week ahead. Have a wonderful weekend!
